It appears that every day we get closer to October 23 is another day closer to the iPad Mini becoming a real thing. While there have been no invitations to such an event yet, it is expected that we are a little more than a week away from the announcement of a 7.85″ tablet from Apple.
The device has been highly speculated upon for months and months, gaining speed and intensity after the release of devices like the Kindle Fire HD and the Nexus 7 . In order to truly compete with those devices, however, Apple would need to reach the same price points Amazon and Google achieved.
A screenshot has been leaked of an inventory system containing the iPad Mini in various sizes and prices. There’s no real way of confirming the validity of these prices, but they do fall in line with Apple’s pricing scheme for their existing devices. If the screenshot is to be believed, the iPad Mini will start out with an 8GB WiFi version, just like the Nexus 7. This $249 base model increases in $100 increments to include 16, 32, and 64GB of storage and a mobile connection if desired. The most expensive model would then be $649, but at that point you’re getting significantly more than is offered by either Amazon or Google’s tablets right now.
