Not everyone is all that thrilled about RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 10 OS and its accompanying devices, but one company rep in Mexico clearly couldn’t contain his excitement. A video demonstration of an as-yet-unannounced BB10 smartphone (likely a member of the upcoming L Series) made its way onto Vimeo for all to see.
The five-minute video appears to have been filmed for Mexican carrier Telcel for use on its HolaTelcel portal. In it, RIM’s corporate rep gives a brief glimpse at some of the new features in BlackBerry 10 OS, like the best shot picture in the camera app, the redesigned App World experience, and the slick predictive keyboard that will allow BB10 users to flick words into text fields as they appear above individual letters.
A few swipe actions are also shown off, but not much is revealed about the hardware itself. This particular L Series phone looks to be about the same size as a Galaxy S2 — though its possible our demonstrator has either very large or very small hands. A previous leak pegged at least one L Series at 4.2 inches with a 1280×768 display, and that would probably be a close match to what’s shown in the video.
It doesn’t appear quite big enough to be the BlackBerry Aristo, another BB10 phone that was leaked recently. The Aristo is said to feature a 4.65-inch display and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The phone in the video will likely be positioned as a more modest BB10 offering once the new handsets finally go on sale early next year.
