– AMD slashing the prices of three APUsAs if to emphasize how tight a spot it has landed in, Advanced Micro Devices is getting ready to cut prices on some accelerated processing units.
The information allegedly comes from sources among motherboard manufacturers.
The FM1-based 2.5 GHz dual-core A4-3300, for example, will drop from $46 / 35-46 Euro to $30 / 23-30 Euro, while the A4-3400 (dual-core at 2.7 GHz) will change from $48 / 37-48 Euro to $35 / 27-35 Euro.
A maneuver such as this would help empty the inventories of Llano processors, leaving the coast clear for Trinity to spread its wings.
Curiously though, the 3.4 GHz dual-core A4-5300 FM2 Trinity (3.6 GHz Turbo) will be getting cheaper as well, from $53 / 40-53 Euro, a quarter from now (three months or so), to compete with Intel’s Pentium series.
AMD said neither yey nor nay about these presumed plans, but we won’t have to wait too long to find out whether or not they are true. Online retailers will modify prices in short order when the time comes.
